Prof. Dr GEORGE W. KABALKA
Professor George W. Kabalka received the B.S. degree at the University of Michigan and the Ph.D. degree at Purdue University (under Nobel Laureate H. C. Brown). He joined the Chemistry faculty at the University of Tennessee in 1970 where he served as Alumni Distinguished Service Professor. He was also appointed Professor and Director of Research at the Graduate School of Medicine and served as the Robert H. Cole Distinguished Professor of Neuroscience in the Department of Radiology. Dr. Kabalka has also served as a Consultant to three of the US National Laboratories and is on the Advisory Boards of several professional societies and journals. Dr. Kabalka was the President of the International Isotope Society, is active in a number of profession societies, and has published over 550 refereed journal articles.
Dr. Kabalka’s research interests are focused on the creation of new synthetic pathways (molecular architecture) involving organoboron reagents, with an emphasis on the incorporation of short lived isotopes for use in Nuclear Medicine. Prof. Dr Bimal Krishna Banik
Bimal Krishna Banik conducted his doctoral research at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Calcutta. Then, he pursued postdoctoral research at Case Western Reserve University (USA) and Stevens Institute of Technology (USA). He was a Tenured Full Professor and the First President’s Endowed Professor in Science & Engineering at the University of Texas. He was also the Vice-President of Research at the Community Health Systems of Texas. Currently, Dr. Banik is a Full Professor at the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Professor Banik has taught chemistry to B. S., M. S., and Ph. D. students in USA and Saudi Arabia universities for many years. His class teaching skills are powerful. Several thousand students endorse his teaching in their written evaluations.  In research, he has supervised approximately 300 students, 20 postdoctoral fellows, 7 Ph. D. research scientists, and 32 university/college faculties. He has acted as the Advisor of two student organizations that have 1400 students.
Professor Banik has conducted organic chemistry and chemical biology research on cancers, antibiotics, catalysis, and natural products. As the Principal Investigator (PI), he is awarded $7.25 million in grants from USA NIH and USA NCI. He has over 750 publications (US patents, books, book chapters, papers, reviews, name reactions, perspectives, and editorials) and 540 presentation abstracts. He has edited/authored 29 books. The number of citations of his publications is more than 11,500. Notably, he was the Chairman of the Faculty Research Council of the University of Texas-Pan American, Director of the CORE Research Lab of the University of Texas-M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and Chairman of the Faculty Promotion & Tenure of the University of Texas-Pan American. He chaired over 20 symposiums at the American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meetings and over two dozen conferences at the National and International level, including one at the Nobel Prize Celebration. In the capacity of chair, he introduced about 300 speakers. Dr. Banik is a Reviewer of 93, Editorial Board Member of 26, Editor-in-Chief of 12, Founder of 8, and Guest Editor of 10 research journals.
Dr. Banik was given Life-Time Achievement Awards by Indian Chemical Society and West Bengal Shibsankar Sebasamity, Professor Asima Chatterjee Memorial Award for research excellence, First President’s Endowed Professorship at the University of Texas, Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Honor Medal from the UK Parliament, US National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ Best Advisor Award for students, 5 Top-cited papers Awards by Elsevier, Professor P. K. Bose Endowment Medal, Dr. M. N. Ghosh Gold Medal, University of Texas Board of Regents Outstanding Teaching Award, ACS Member Service Award, Best Researcher Award by Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, and Best Researcher-Teacher-Mentor Awards by the University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Banik was also honored by numerous organizations, including Burdwan University, Bejoy Narayan College, Stevens Institute of Technology, ACS News, Elsevier, RSC, US NCI, US NIH, and US Research Foundations, Times of India, ACS SEED Research Program, India and US Newspapers, Bentham Publisher and Down to the Earth Magazine.
